The San Antonio Area Chapter of the American Red Cross provides health and safety training that equips people of all ages to prevent, prepare for and respond to life threatening emergencies. Our health and safety courses cover more than 50 topics such as first aid and CPR, use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), babysitter's training, swimming and aquatic safety, instructor training and much more.
Training is offered at our headquarters and branch offices on a regular basis, at worksites throughout our 23 county jurisdiction upon request and by Authorized Providers of American Red Cross courses. More than 26,000 people received training in lifesaving skills last year.
Beyond training, the Health & Safety Services Department of the San Antonio Area Chapter offers emergency first aid services to the public at events in the community. These first aid stations are staffed by volunteers who are trained in First Aid and CPR and they are the first link in the emergency management system. Volunteers also offer community safety presentations to hundreds of local groups reaching thousands of people every year with lifesaving information.
