 2010 marks the fifth year of the San Antonio Area Chapter participation in Golf San Antonio’s Birdies for Charity fundraising campaign. Birdies for Charity is a fundraising program designed by Golf San Antonio to give participating organizations the opportunity to generate contributions through the Valero Texas Open. This year the Valero Texas Open will be held May 10-16, 2010.
Birdies for Charity is like a walk-a-thon, but instead of donating per mile, participants make a pledge for every birdie made at the Valero Texas Open. A birdie is one stroke under par for a hole.
Example: In 2009 2,336 birdies were made.
1 cent = $23.36
2 cents = $46.72
3 cents = $70.08
5 cents = $116.80
Straight donations are also accepted with the Birdies for Charity program.
Recommended Donation Requests:
Individuals: $20+
Corporations: $1,000+
100% of all donations collected will benefit the Red Cross mission in 23 counties across South Central Texas. All donors are eligible to win an assortment of prizes, including the grand prize, a new Ford Taurus!

Every penny raised through Birdies for Charity will enable us to continue our humanitarian mission to provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies across South Central Texas. A hot meal delivered to victims after a disaster, shelter when there is nowhere else to turn, an emergency message delivered to a deployed member of the Armed Forces, saving a life using CPR skills -- these are just some of the ways that gifts we receive through the Birdies for Charity program are put to work at the American Red Cross.
